Can You Help?

My name is Joey and I am a six month old male French Mastiff. I was just diagnosed with Wobblers Syndrome (cervical vertebral instability) which means I have compressive spinal cord lesions affecting the caudal cervical spine (the spinal cord at the base of my neck). At the moment, only my back legs are affected. They are not stable and slip out from under me. As time goes on my front lets will be affected as well and it’s extremely painful. I am on medication now to help with the inflammation but I have to have a special surgery to save my life. The surgery will make me walk better and pain free. The surgery is permanent acupuncture with gold beads. There is only one doctor in the country who performs this. The doctor has a 90 percent success rate and has been practicing this procedure since 1975. Without this procedure, I would become completely paralyzed and they would have to put me to sleep. They say the pain is as bad as cancer. My previous owner did not want to pursue medical treatment. I am now in a new home with my brother and sister. As much as my new owner Nikki loves me, she can’t afford my surgery. We are trying very hard to raise money for my surgery, airfare and after care. If you can help, please send donations to R.U.F.F., P.O. Box 1140, Laguna Beach, CA 92652. Thank you!
